I wanted to let everyone know that we are actively working on the site sluggishness that has occurred on Sunday between 2 and 5pm MST. The sluggishness has to do with pickem type leagues now updating Standings real-time after a game completes, instead of late Monday night. Essentially what happens is a bunch of players jump online after 2pm MST to see how they are doing, and because there are fresh game results, the standings page starts an update process instead of using the cached version. We are working with the host to make sure among other things that there are no database access restrictions. At the same time we are making some changes to improve database access time and plan to implement some throttling of standings rebuild during the peak database activity on Sunday after 2pm. Thanks for your understanding as we work this issue.

I hate to appear ungrateful, because I am getting my money's worth from this site.  It is, after all, free!.  But I think I would have declined to register for this site if I had known it wasn't going to work a month into tthe season.  A week or two--I can understand.  But it's Week 4 and the site still does not work during the most important hour of the week.

Thanks Luanne. We are still working on it. The opening post explains the reason (new real-time feature). We were down for a total of about 30 minutes interdispersed from 2:10 to 5 MST, which isn't good but at least a huge improvement from last week. There is still more we can do to boost things with our host, and are in the process of coordinating with them as it will require downtime to move to a more powerful private SQL server.

My league is showing 10 extra losses for everyone in the league standings.  Is that attributed to the sunday slowness or a separate issue?

Not likely. I'll take a look and let you know.

Several league's survivor caches did not update.  It should be cleared now and your standings updated.

It's because you have your grace period set to 2 hours. This is the amount of time a player has to change their picks after first submitting them. If you want your players to be able to change their picks up to your league deadline, set this to a high number (I recommend 255 which effectively disables the grace period). Go to Manager > League Settings, then set grace period to 255.

I'm not getting on the site at all from about 3:30 p.m. EDT until about 4:45 p.m. EDT (1:30 MDT until about 2:45 (if there are any overtime games)).  I don't know how the website works during any other time and I really don't care.  The period I specify is the most interesting because I can begin to see how I am going to do that particular week against my compeitition (in the confidence league) as the early games come to a close.  Those 17 weeks of the year, during that period, is the best buzz I can get in my life.  I know, it's probably pretty sad, but I live the whole year for that one-plus hour.  My family--wife and kids--know to leave me alone during that one-plus hour of the week.  That's all I ask for in life.  This is my first year in this league, but I have played in other (confidence) leagues for several years now and I have always done pretty well.  I've always had a chance to win the league I was in going in to Week 17.  I was looking forward to matching wits with the brain-power in this league.  Anyway, getting back to the point: if I am only able to look at the results of where I stand after the early games at, say, 4:45 EDT, I am deprived of my entire buzz.  So, again, I don't want to appear ungrateful, but the most important factor in entering any (confidence-based) league was so that the site would work perfectly as the early games come to a close, with the site being updated as the games end.

I'm glad you post because I did want to provide an update. This is the first year this has been a problem, and its directly related to the very thing you like to see, real-time updates to the leagues. I've been working with the hosting company and last weekend we made improvements and there was less downtime during that busy period. This week the hosting company noticed something that was a problem and implemented a change, we'll see how it goes.
