Hi Fred,

My pick-em pool is configured to use the "Last Game of Week" as the tiebreaker, but I noticed that a handful of entries on the player picks page appear to show the New England - Kansas City game as the tiebreaker.  I know that this game was rescheduled from Sunday to Monday, but the start time is still 1:45 before the Atlanta - Green Bay game. Can this be fixed?

Thanks, Tom

P.S., As of completion of the Sunday afternoon games, none of the affected participants are in the running, so the issue is moot for week 4. Since this may not be the last rescheduled game, can the "Last Game of Week" be locked somehow so it doesn't change?

Hi Tom,

The problem arose when I tenatively placed the rescheduled Chiefs game after the Monday night game without thinking of the last tie-breaker game. Next time hopefully I'll remember this and set it to a time just before the usual Monday night game. That being said, in the future, if the rescheduled game ends up being the later Monday night game, there will inevitably be a mix of picks between the two games. We'll have to leave it up to league managers to work it out with their league as that's something we can't reasonably justify coding around given the rarity of such a situation (hopefully it will never happen, but its certianly possible this year - especially if its a Tuesday game).

Fred

For the benefit of others who read this, this is how I'm addressing the tiebreaker in my pick-em pool.

  • I've notified my pool participants that the original tiebreaker game (typically the Monday night game) will not change.
  • If any games are rescheduled for late Monday or Tuesday, participants are to ignore the displayed tiebreaker game selection on the pick entry page and choose based on the original tiebreaker game.
  • Once the picks are locked in (1pm ET for my pool), I will use manager functions to temporarily set the tiebreaker setting to "any game", edit any picks that show a different tiebreaker game, and then restore the "last game of week" setting.

This way, all participants will have the same tiebreaker game.

Only if the original tiebreaker is itself canceled, will I declare a new tiebreaker (likely the new "last" game) or declare a no tiebreaker week.
