Super Bowl pick deadline

Good Afternoon,

Just thinking ahead to next week.  Our pool's weekly pick deadline is 8:30pm on Thursday night.  I have kept this deadline throughout the playoffs for continuity sake.  However, since the Super Bowl will be two weeks from this Sunday, I would like to change the pick deadline for the Super Bowl to some time closer to the game. My question is, in League Setttings what should I set the pick deadline to if I wanted to make the deadline for our participants to make their picks prior to 6pm on the Sunday of the Super Bowl (February 5th).  I appreciate any direction you can provide.

Hi Bill,

You don't need to do anything if you prefer the deadline to be the Thursday just before the Super Bowl, as the software already knows to set the deadline the week of the game. If you prefer the deadline to be closer to game time, just set it to say 6:30pm EST Sunday.   

Fred PS. Another option is to set it past game time to something like Sunday 8pm EST, as this would force the deadline to be kickoff time, but this would probably confuse some people.

Quick question for you.  It was my intention to extend our "pick" deadline for the Super Bowl from Thursday at 8:30pm to Sunday at 6:00pm.  Last week,  I went into league settings and made the change, however, it doesn't appear that I hit the "Submit Change" button to officially make the change.  This morning, I logged onto the site and was able to see everyone's picks.  I then went to "League Settings" and my picks deadline was still set for  Thursday at 8:30pm.  I then made the changet to extend the deadline until Sunday at 6pm.  Thankfully, now all player picks are hidden (until the Sunday at 6pm deadline).

I had advised our league that you are able to log in and change your pick or your tie breaker number right up until the deadline expires.  However, when I logged in, I tried to make a change to my Super Bowl selection, but I was unable to make this change.  I understand as the administrator that I can make changes to my team and others under the Manager tab, but what if a participant in my league decides they want to change their pick or tie breaker number?  It doesn't appear they can do it on their own.  Am I missing somehting? 

Any help or direction you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Bill... Well this is an interesting one. It's because the grace period has been exceeded. The largest number it takes is 255, which turns out to be just over 10 days. So since you made your pick over 10 days ago it won't let you make a pick. 

What I should do is treat 255 as "infinity" since this would be the reason a manager would set it this way. I should be able to do this later tonight.
