Posted Oct 12, 2017 at 8:35 PM To the Commissioner, the site worked great this past Sunday (October 8). I got my buzz and it felt great. Thank you! (You get an exclamation point from me, something I only give out every five years.) I am on record on this site that I am new to this league. In conjunction with that fact, I failed to get a pick in on tonight's game (Eagles at Panthers) even though I thought I made a pick. It seems there are some funky settings on this site. I have absolutely no doubt that I picked the Thursday night game and the site recorded my pick. I first only picked the Thursday night game and my pick was recorded. I checked it. A few hours later, last night, I went back on the site and made a few picks for the rest of the week. Did my later picks negate the Thursday night pick. (Am I not allowed to partially pick the week (piecemeal)?) I am also in the bookie league. Two weeks ago, when Green Bay played the Bears on a Thursday night, I put $100 on Green Bay and Green Bay covered. (I won theoretical money, thank you.) But I was not able to make any more bets over the weekend. Why? I wanted to still put a few hundred dollars on the Sunday games and I couldn't. (I assume that if I put $99 on Green Bay, instead of $100, I still could have placed bets on the Sunday games?) Thanks, The Crickers

Hello "The Crickers", Thanks for the comments! The reason your Thursday pick didn't register is that you forgot to enter a tie-breaker. If you forget it prints an error in 'red' on the Picks page that you still need a tie-breaker. Just be sure that when you hit submit you wait for the picks submitted page. It's usually within a second, but on occasion it can be several seconds (there is a busy indicator). All that being said, you're not the first to have this problem so I've filed a task to change the pick sheet to accept the picks even without a tie-breaker, then warn the player on the submitted picks page that they still need a tie-breaker. The public Bookie pool (play money) league you are in is not configured for "stacked" betting. This is a feature that would allow you to use play money winnings from the current week to use on subsequent games that week. In the league you are in, once a game you picked starts, you can't make any further bets. Provided I remember, I'll set it next year to allow "stacked" betting. I don't think it would be fair to change the rules at this point in the season for this year's pool. Fred

Thank you for the clarification, Mr. Commissioner. I might pick up the concept of the play money league at a later date. I have played mostly Yahoo pickem (confidence league) in my career, so I am mentally tuned in to the Yahoo settings. There is no right or wrong; one just needs to know the rules and settings, and I admit that I haven't studied the settings, so your feedback is much appreciated. I will get the hang of this site in due course. The burden is on me to get my picks in and I understand that. I am happy to give as much feedback as you would like, throughout the season. Constructive criticism, of course. I never wanted to appear to be complaining. I appreciate the opportunity, more than what I can express in a post, and I would not demand a refund. (Since it's free and all.) You have a great site going. And you can call me "Crick." |
