World Cup Pool Scoring Options
OfficePoolStop gives managers flexible scoring options for both the group stage and knockout rounds. You can keep scoring simple or reward players for correctly identifying advancing teams, exact placement, and deeper bracket success.
Group Stage Scoring
Players pick two teams from each group: the team they expect to finish 1st and the team they expect to finish 2nd.
- Option 1: Exact Group Finish Scoring
Players earn points only when they pick the correct team in the correct position. For example, a team picked to finish 1st must actually finish 1st to earn the group winner points. - Option 2: Advancing Teams + Exact Order Bonus
Players earn points when they correctly pick a team to advance, even if the 1st/2nd order is wrong. Managers can also award bonus points when the player gets the exact group placement correct.
Knockout Round Scoring
Managers can customize how many points each knockout round is worth. For a FIFA World Cup pool, scoring can include:
- Round of 32 Points
- Round of 16 Points
- Quarterfinal Points
- Semifinal Points
- Third Place Match Points
- Championship / Final Points
This lets managers make later rounds more valuable, keep every match meaningful, and create a scoring format that fits their group.
Manager Options
- Choose between exact group finish scoring or advancing teams with exact order bonus scoring.
- Customize group stage points and bonus values.
- Customize knockout round points by round.
- Set pick deadlines for group stage and knockout picks.
- Configure tie-breakers for final standings.
- Control visibility of picks before and after deadlines.
- Track payments and export league data.
How to Submit Your Picks
Making your group stage picks is quick and easy. Select a team in each group to assign 1st and 2nd place.
- Tap a team once to assign 1st place.
- Tap another team to assign 2nd place.
- Change or remove selections anytime before the deadline.
- Partial picks are allowed — finish later if needed.
For the knockout rounds, players fill out a bracket by picking which teams will advance. As matches are completed, standings update based on the scoring values chosen by the league manager.
Strategy Tips
- Balance favorites and upsets — don’t pick all chalk.
- Pay attention to group stage rotations, injuries, and matchups.
- Understand your league’s scoring method before picking group winners and runners-up.
- If advancing teams are rewarded, focus on identifying the top two teams even when exact order is uncertain.
- If exact placement is heavily rewarded, group order matters much more.
- Later knockout rounds often matter more — plan your bracket accordingly.
- Consider tie-breaker rules before submitting final picks.
